Re8mil: A Daylight-Loading, Reusable Super 8 Cartridge
Re8mil is a fully reusable, daylight-loadable cartridge system for Super 8 cameras. Compared to legacy single-use cartridges, Re8mil reduces plastic waste.
Better for the planet.
Re8mil is built for repeated use — making Super 8 film a more sustainable choice for creators today.
How it Works
- Purchase a sealed supply magazine preloaded with 50 ft of film.
- Thread the film through Re8mil’s transport path in daylight — no darkroom or changing bag required.
After shooting
- Remove the spool and return it (along with the used magazine) to the On8mil lab for processing.
- The lab refurbishes and recycles the magazine and spool for continued use.
- Keep your Re8mil cartridge — it’s engineered to last.

Engineered for filmmakers
Re8mil uses precision CNC-machined metal and UV-cured resin parts, an improved spring-loaded pressure plate for sharp images, and modular components that can be replaced.

What is Super 8?
The Super 8 film format was introduced by Kodak in 1965 to simplify amateur filmmaking: just insert a cartridge and shoot. Today, it remains beloved by artists, cinematographers, and film enthusiasts.
Traditional single-use cartridges are often discarded after processing. That design made sense decades ago — but in today’s climate, it generates significant plastic waste. Re8mil offers a new path: sustainability without sacrificing the tactile, analogue beauty of Super 8.
